Machine maintenance: a tidy coffee maker

A tidy machine is a happy machine. It is undeniably true that properly maintained coffee machines will yield better-tasting coffee. Your Specialty coffee will taste its sweetest if all the crud that accumulates in the machine's internal components is removed. Additionally, it will lessen the bitterness brought on by the accumulation of coffee oils. Furthermore, a well-kept coffee maker will function more efficiently and last longer in between uses.

But how exactly do you clean a coffee maker? Surprisingly, many barista training (whether professional or home aficionados) lack the necessary training to carry out this crucial task effectively. Make sure you're carrying out this crucial task correctly by following the simple instructions below.

Clean your portafilters

Cleaning the portafilters comes first. For ten minutes, baristas are taught to soak their portafilters in a pail of chemicals. Here is a more recent technique for cleaning the portafilter's inner spout area that is quicker, simpler, and more efficient.

1. Each filter basket should contain one-half of a scoop of the cleaning agent.

2. For 30 seconds, dispense water from the group using portafilters that have been inserted into the group head.

3. Portafilters should be taken out and rinsed using the espresso machine's water tap. In this stage, soap and exterior oil are removed.

4. The group handle and basket should be free of oil after removing the basket and giving it a thorough cleaning.

5. The group head seals should be cleaned with your bench cloth.

Backflush

Backflushing is a technique you must use to clean your coffee brewer machine's interior components.

1. Fill each blind filter basket with a half-scoop of a cleaning agent.

2. Portafilters should be placed in the group head.

3. Group heads should be activated for 10 seconds before being deactivated.

4. Three times, the group heads will cycle on and off.

5. Remove the blind portafilters, then 10 seconds of water will be dispensed from the group head. The blind portafilters should then be cleaned.

6. Place clean portafilters into the group heads and repeat the backflushing procedure to clean the espresso maker's interior without using chemicals.

Clean your group heads

The shower screens of the group head on your coffee machine for cafe could be secured with a screw, depending on the manufacturer. If so, you will need to remove the shower screen in order to clean it because filth accumulates there daily.

1. Utilize the bench cloth to clean the shower screen.

2. The shower screen screws should be eliminated using a screwdriver.

3. Attach the screws to the coffee maker's top grate.

4. Shower screens should be washed and cleaned with running water.

5. The group-head seals should be cleaned with your bench cloth.

6. Reinstall the shower screens on the group head and tighten the screws just enough.

In a café setting, we advise carrying out the aforementioned sequence every day, and at the very least once per week for the home barista. Here's to savoring excellent speciality coffee from a coffee shop equipment that is in excellent shape.
